Grillfish Seafood
Dupont Circle: 1200 New Hampshire Ave. NW, Washington, DC
$$$$ This town has plenty of high-end steak and seafood restaurants where you can rack up the credit card bills (or dip deeply into the expense account), but Grillfish is trying to be an everyday seafood joint. The motto on their Web site: “Fresh fish. Friendly prices. No tuxedos.” It seems to be a working combo. “The food and atmosphere were wonderful.” “I love this place. The seafood options are great in the variety and quality.” “The artic char, so flavorful.” “I am addicted to the ginger calamari as well as being a big fan of the crab and shrimp stuffed portabella mushrooms. Because the portions are fair, you get to sample a few dishes without feeling stuffed or like you are overpaying.” “We ordered 2 entrees. One was the sea bass special. The sea bass medallions were fried, which was not ideal, served over tasty spinach with a curry sauce.…The other entree was the scallop piccata. It was quite delicious, and the scallops were large and cooked very well.” Even if you’re not hungry, the bar scene is worth checking out. “I love happy hour at Grillfish.” “The infused pineapple and coconut vodkas delicious, and a very reasonably priced wine selection.” “The bartender at Grillfish - who is always friendly - is a master.”
